Elsevier is reported to have said that the acquisition supported their e-Health strategy which is set to improve patient health care and the business of health in the Pharmaceutical business intelligence (BI) market. It expands Elsevier's offering of new products and services to industry professionals as it combines innovative technology and industry-leading content, tht together will promote faster and better informed planning and management.
"Adding Windhover's expert analysis of the pharmaceutical and medical device industries to our existing regulatory and general business news services and database expands both the depth and breadth of Elsevier's customer offerings," said Brian Nairn, CEO of Elsevier Health Sciences.
"Windhover also provides an exciting platform for new products."
Windhover is the producer of journals such as IN VIVO and the RPM Report, which is the world's most comprehensive database of health care industry transactions (Strategic Transactions Database), as well as a series on medical-device and biopharmaceutical partnering and strategy conferences.
The acquisition of Windhover is the latest in the list of Elsevier's series of highly synergistic investments in the area of content and workflow tools. Windhover will now operate within Elsevier's Pharma Business Intelligence Unit, which includes F-D-C Reports and Inteleos the powerful drug development database.
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
